A Day of Firsts
I’m a sucker for happy firsts. First kisses. First loves (I’m lucky enough to be married to mine!). First time you taste what will become your favorite wine or favorite tea or favorite dessert. The first visit to the house that you’ll call home. A lick on the face from the puppy that you’re going to adopt.
Today was an exciting one for me: the debut of my first romance novel, True North. And what a debut—featured on the Happy Ever After section of USA Today, SO psyched, and feeling all kinds of wonderful about how much fun it was to write the book and to finally see it in print. My journey from enthusiastic romance reader to bona-fide romance writer has been a wild, enlightening, challenging, and rewarding experience so far, but what I think I love most about it is getting to know my characters.
My characters—guys, I really do love them, and I think you will, too! For me they’re real: they don’t always behave on the page, and their experiences and feelings are universal for those of us who love to love, and feel that zing of passion in ourselves.
I hope you’ll join me on this journey to that beautiful happily-ever-after. I believe in it, and I believe in the journey itself, starting with that first step.
Love,
Scarlett
